BRAHMOTSAVA POORVANGA PUJA

BRAHMOTSAVA POORVANGA PUJA
Join us for the sacred Brahmotsava Poorvanga Puja, the auspicious ceremonial commencement of the grand Brahmotsavam celebrations. These preliminary rituals are performed to invoke divine blessings, purify the surroundings, and ensure the successful conduct of the forthcoming festivities dedicated to Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
The evening begins with Vishvaksena Puja, seeking the blessings of Lord Vishvaksena, the commander of Lord Vishnu’s celestial forces, to remove obstacles and ensure the smooth conduct of all religious activities. This is followed by Punyaha Vaachanam, a purification ceremony performed to sanctify the temple premises and devotees participating in the event.
The sacred Raksha Bandhanam ritual is then conducted to invoke divine protection for the priests, volunteers, and all participants. Ritvik Varanam follows, formally appointing the Vedic priests who will officiate the Brahmotsavam ceremonies. As part of the preparations, Ankuraropanam (sowing of sacred seeds) symbolizes prosperity, growth, and divine abundance. The Ankuraropananga Homam, a special fire ritual, is performed to energize and sanctify the ceremonial proceedings.
The evening concludes with Garuda Prathistha and Neerajanam, invoking the divine presence of Garuda, the celestial vehicle of Lord Vishnu, followed by the offering of sacred light to the deities.
Vishvaksena Puja
The Brahmotsava festivities commence with the sacred Vishvaksena Puja. Lord Vishvaksena, revered as the commander of Lord Vishnu’s celestial army, is worshipped to remove all obstacles and ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the upcoming Brahmotsavam celebrations. This ritual invokes divine protection and auspiciousness for every ceremony that follows.
Punyaha Vaachanam
Punyaha Vaachanam is a traditional purification ceremony performed through the chanting of Vedic mantras and the sprinkling of sanctified water. This ritual purifies the temple premises, ritual materials, and participants, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere suitable for the sacred festivities.
Raksha Bandhanam
During Raksha Bandhanam, sacred protective threads are tied to the priests, ritual participants, and ceremonial objects. This act symbolizes divine protection and blessings, ensuring that all rituals are carried out without hindrance and under the grace of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
Ritvik Varanam
Ritvik Varanam is the formal appointment and invocation of the Vedic priests (Ritviks) who will conduct the Brahmotsavam rituals. Through this ceremony, the priests are ceremonially entrusted with their sacred responsibilities and seek divine blessings to perform the rituals according to Vedic traditions.
Ankuraropanam
Ankuraropanam, the sowing of sacred seeds in specially prepared pots, is a significant Brahmotsava ritual symbolizing fertility, prosperity, spiritual growth, and divine abundance. As the seeds germinate during the festival period, they represent the flourishing of devotion and the blessings bestowed upon devotees.
Ankuraropananga Homam
Following Ankuraropanam, a sacred fire ritual known as Ankuraropananga Homam is performed. Vedic mantras are offered into the consecrated fire, invoking the blessings of various deities and energizing the seeds sown during the ceremony. The Homam purifies the environment and strengthens the spiritual foundation of the entire Brahmotsavam.
Garuda Prathistha
Garuda Prathistha is performed to ceremonially invoke the divine presence and blessings of Garuda, the sacred vehicle of Lord Mahavishnu. Garuda symbolizes devotion, strength, protection, and unwavering service to the Lord. This ritual marks an important preparatory step for the grand celebrations that follow.
Neerajanam
The Poorvanga Puja concludes with Neerajanam, the offering of sacred light (Harathi) to the deities. This beautiful ceremony signifies the removal of darkness and the reception of divine grace. Devotees participate by receiving the blessings of the sacred flame and offering prayers for peace, prosperity, health, and spiritual well-being.

The Poorvanga Puja serves as the sacred foundation for the grand Brahmotsavam. Each ritual is carefully prescribed in the Agama and Vedic traditions to sanctify the temple, invoke divine energies, appoint priests, and prepare both the physical and spiritual environment for the celestial celebrations of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
