Marathi Classes

Bridgewater Marathi Shala (class) runs in-person from September to June, every Sunday from 10:30-1:30 PM at the Bharati Vidyalaya (Education Building) at the temple.
There are 7 class levels, and each class level has its own timing between 10:30-1:30 PM.

Please visit the temple’s website for the admissions in/around mid-August.
Minimum Age requirement is 5 years old.

About Marathi Learning Program

The Marathi class focuses on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students learn vowels, consonants, sentences, numbers, colors, Marathi months, prayers, shlokas, fruits, flowers, animals, etc. Students also learn to read the clock and tell the time in Marathi. Please find the attached document for detailed information on different class levels.

Activities

Different games such as guess the missing letter, or Shivaji mhanto (similar to Simon says) are introduced to make learning Marathi more interesting for the students. Festivals/Holidays celebration helps students learn about the history of Marathi and Indian culture. Diwali, Sankrant, Gudhipadawa, Mother Day, 15th August, are few of the holidays celebrated in the class with students, teachers, and parents. Shala year ends with annual summer picnic where all students, parents, grandparents, volunteers join and enjoy the sense of community.
