PRADOSHAM
Pradosham is one of the most sacred observances dedicated to Lord Shiva and is celebrated during the divine twilight period of Trayodasi. Devotees worship Lord Shiva during this holy time seeking forgiveness, spiritual purification, peace, and liberation.
At Sri Venkateswara Temple, special Shiva Abhishekam and Vrushabha Vahana Seva are performed with devotion during every Pradosham celebration.
About PRADOSHAM
Pradosham occurs during the sunset period of Trayodasi, the thirteenth lunar day, and is observed twice every month — once during Sukla Paksha and once during Krishna Paksha. Worshipping Lord Shiva during this sacred period is believed to remove sins and lead devotees toward spiritual upliftment and moksha.
According to the Puranas, during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), a deadly poison emerged before the appearance of Amrutham (nectar). To protect the universe, Lord Shiva compassionately consumed the poison and saved all beings.
The Devas later realized they had forgotten to thank Lord Shiva and worshipped Him during Trayodasi Pradosha time. Pleased with their devotion, Lord Shiva forgave them and performed His divine cosmic dance between the horns of Nandi, the sacred bull.
