Sahasra Kalasabhishekam is one of the most sacred and spiritually uplifting ceremonies performed during the Brahmotsavam celebrations. “Sahasra” means one thousand, and “Kalasa” refers to sacred vessels filled with sanctified water energized through Vedic chants and divine invocation. During this grand ritual, Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy is ceremonially worshipped with the blessings and spiritual energies invoked into the sacred Kalasas.
The ritual symbolizes the offering of devotion, gratitude, and surrender to the Lord while seeking divine blessings for health, prosperity, peace, spiritual growth, and the well-being of all devotees. The day also includes sacred homams, Anna Prasadam for devotees, and the magnificent Sesha Vahana Seva, where Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy is taken in procession on the divine Adi Sesha Vahanam, symbolizing His supreme cosmic form and divine protection.
Morning Schedule
7:00 AM – Suprabhatam
The day begins with the sacred Suprabhatam service, awakening Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy with devotional hymns and prayers. This revered tradition creates a spiritually vibrant atmosphere and invites devotees to begin the day in the divine presence of the Lord.
7:30 AM – Nitya Homam
The daily sacred fire ritual is performed with Vedic chanting and offerings into the consecrated fire. Devotees pray for divine blessings, prosperity, protection, and the successful conduct of the Brahmotsavam celebrations.
7:50 AM – Poornahuti
Poornahuti marks the successful completion of the morning homam. Special offerings are made into the sacred fire, symbolizing the culmination of prayers and the acceptance of devotees’ offerings by the divine.
8:00 AM – Sankalpam
The priests perform Sankalpam, a solemn declaration of intent for the Sahasra Kalasabhishekam. Through this sacred resolution, prayers are offered on behalf of devotees, seeking the blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy for peace, health, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment.
8:15 AM – Sahasra Kalasabhishekam
The highlight of the day, Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, is performed with great devotion and grandeur. One thousand sanctified Kalasas, energized through Vedic mantras and divine invocation, are offered ceremonially to Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy. The ritual signifies purification, divine grace, abundance, and spiritual upliftment. Witnessing this sacred ceremony is considered highly meritorious and spiritually rewarding.
Anna Prasadam
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM – Anna Prasadam
All devotees are invited to partake in the sacred Anna Prasadam served at the temple. Sharing Prasadam is considered an act of devotion and gratitude, fostering unity, humility, and divine blessings among devotees.
Evening Schedule
5:00 PM – Nitya Homam
The evening celebrations begin with the daily homam, invoking divine blessings and expressing gratitude for the successful completion of the day’s sacred rituals.
5:45 PM – Poornahuti
The evening homam concludes with Poornahuti, marking the completion of the sacred fire offerings and prayers.
6:45 PM – Sesha Vahana Seva
One of the most significant processional events of Brahmotsavam, Sesha Vahana Seva features Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy majestically seated upon Adi Sesha, the celestial serpent with multiple hoods. Adi Sesha symbolizes eternal devotion, divine protection, cosmic energy, and unwavering service to the Lord. As the deity is taken in procession, devotees receive the blessings of the Lord and experience the spiritual grandeur of the festival.
7:30 PM – Dolotsavam
Following the Vahana Seva, Dolotsavam is performed with the Utsava Murti seated on a beautifully decorated swing. Accompanied by devotional music, Vedic chanting, and prayers, this ceremony symbolizes the loving relationship between the Lord and His devotees and creates an atmosphere of divine joy and devotion.
8:00 PM – Neerajanam
The day’s celebrations conclude with Neerajanam, the ceremonial offering of sacred light to Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy. Devotees receive Harathi and seek divine blessings for peace, prosperity, good health, protection, and spiritual progress.
