VARALAKSHMI VRATAM

Varalakshmi Vratam is a highly auspicious Hindu observance dedicated to Goddess Sri Varalakshmi, the divine embodiment of prosperity, wealth, peace, strength, and auspiciousness.

At Sri Venkateswara Temple, devotees participate in special Lakshmi pujas, Sahasranama chanting, Kalasa worship, and spiritual celebrations seeking divine blessings for family welfare, prosperity, and happiness.

About VARALAKSHMI VRATAM

Varalakshmi Vratam is observed on the Friday before the full moon day in the month of Sravan (August–September). The vratam is especially observed by married women (Sumangalis) for the welfare, prosperity, and happiness of their families.

Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped as the embodiment of Ashtalakshmi — the eight divine forms representing wealth, learning, strength, peace, prosperity, fame, love, and abundance. Since She readily grants boons to Her devotees, She is lovingly called “Varalakshmi.”

The festival is associated with several sacred legends including the stories of Goddess Parvati, Chitranemi, and the devoted woman Charumati who received the divine blessings of Goddess Lakshmi through sincere worship.
